ABOUT SHIRENE

Delivering Results in Career Guidance.

Shirene Torrance-Dodd founder and owner of Blackbird Jarvis has been working and supporting the lives of young adults for over 20 years.

 

She is passionate about supporting and influencing the career choices of young adults and works with drive and enthusiasm to support them to achieve their full potential.

 

She has worked in construction industry for almost 10 years developing and delivering apprentice programs, work experience programmes and graduate development programmes, giving her vital commercial knowledge of what private companies expect when recruiting early entrants. Shirene has extensive knowledge of writing and delivering Employment and Skills Plans (ESP), Section 106 Agreements as well as apprentice recruitment requirements and has been a key resource for delivering the requirements of the Southern Construction Framework (SCF), London Construction Framework (LCF) and Education Funding Agency Framework (EFA). 

 

Shirene was the first to develop and implement a successful Corporate Responsibility (CR) strategy within the London region for Kier Construction. Her strategy involved raising awareness of the importance of CR, developing accessible activities for project teams, capturing CR data, effective reporting CR data, and publicising CR activities for business marketing and to support tender submissions.

 

Her passion enabled Kier leave a positive community footprint whenever they were completed a construction project in a residential area by working with stakeholders and her work influenced Kier's London construction projects scoring constantly higher the the National average considerate constructors scheme points. Her 'Making it Happen' guide to proactive CR was adopted by Kier group as best practice and influenced the Kier Group CR policy Responsible People,  Responsible Business. 

 

She has worked on several back to work programs and job ready programs preparing young people for their working lives, and has supported community initiatives such as sexual health workshops and IT training file for groups such as single parents and over 60s. Her specialisms are working with hard to reach groups, NEETS and long-term unemployed. 

 

Shirene has a Level 4 qualification in information and guidance and it's all working towards her Level 6, and is experienced at coaching and mentoring young adults. She has a degree in Digital Art and Video production, and qualifications in communications and marketing, and Adobe InDesign. 

 

Shirene  has worked with Barking and Dagenham Council, Epping Forest College, Epping Forest District Council, Southwalk College, Redbridge Council, Barnardo's, Enfield council.
